Mains of Curr

Mains of Curr Steading.

The brief was to facilitate redevelopment of the existing redundant farm steading with a view to selling the site on. The steading as it currently stands is unlikely to find a purchaser, as it is seriously compromised by the land to the rear which has been built up to eaves level. There is an area of brownfield site adjacent the steading and an existing 1950s bungalow. Because of the location of the steading in a prominent position by the A95 Aviemore – Grantown trunk road, the application was called in by the National Park Authority.

After extensive discussions and provision of basic 3D modelling of the site including massing of the proposed development, I managed to obtain planning permission for a new house on a brownfield site, and a replacement house. The proposal included remodelling of the site to amend ground levels and free up the steading for development.
